Urgent, Movers Needed....

I am fuckt. I have a domain that has an inbuild FTP thingy.... I want to move my blog to my proper site... I have contacted the aresholes who run my new external site, but all they give me BS. I need help BIG TIME. I am a student of life, not a techy. All I know is that my credit card has been charged for a domain name and web-hosting....

I am at a lost. No, I cannot move my blogspot contents to my new "whine" cellar....

Techies out there, what am I supposed to do? I have no access to my FTP server (or whatever) I am merely a drunken wench. I have a highlevel vision of the world, none of this technical stuff which is v.v.important in life....

My technical support does not speak proper English... (maybe they are indian..)

I set up a domain with with Register.com (mistake or not, does not matter)

And everytime I try to move my blog I get an error: FTP not there, you are really up shit creak.

Thanks, I really needed that, but the point is I send out messages to both bolgger.com and my new register.com and they just don't come up with comprehensive answeres!

"oh, you need to configure the FTP to show the IMP, and also the TTS, and also the GWM and GSOH together with the IMPFT to get it right."

WTF!?!

Can somone please help me to move me to my new site so that I can sleep easily. Explain it in total "dumbspeak" so that I can get if for right?

New site is at www.drunkenwenchramblings.com, current site; http://the-inner-voice@blogspot.com

I need help big time!!!!!

Big kisses and a X^mas card etc. for those who can help me!!! Luv DWR

Having the actual server name for the FTP wouldn't hurt either.

Well DWR, you do need all the info that has been said. A SN name, a Password, both to gain acess to your FTP site. Then you need the FTP domain mane, and the FTP host name. The Domain name should be ftp://drunkenwenchramblings.com or something close to that, and the host name should be ftp://?????.register.com or someting along those lines. Then you need to use some program, which may be provided by the host (register.com), so you can actually do the transfering. Then you will need some HTML editor like Dreamweaver, Adobe GoLive, or Windows Front Page, to keep the stie updated. But again the Host my provide some sort of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) program. An example of this would be yahoo site builder. If you are using a third party program like Dreamweaver or Adobe you need to fill in your SN name, the password, and the domain names. From there it is just a matter of uploading your blog, and adding new additions as you please. Hope that helps.

shit this it too hard form. I would rather take my neuroanatomy class... I can tell exactly where the substanta nigra in the basal ganglia is on a MOUSE!

Help me decipher this code:

Thank you for contacting Hosting By Register.com.

You can upload files to your Hosting account using:
- The File Manager that comes with your account
- An outside FTP client that you have on your own computer

The File Manager is best if you want to move, copy, edit or delete one file at a time. It can also be used to create and
remove file directories, change file permissions and upload files from your local computer to your hosting account.

an FTP client or a browser is best if you want to upload a large number of files to your hosting account at one time. Use the
following information to configure your FTP client (either the FTP Manger that comes with your account or your own):

Host Name/Address: ftp2.megaftpservers.com
User Name: (domain)
Password: (the password you used when you signed up for hosting)

Once you have accessed your hosting account through the FTP client, open the public folder and upload your files there.

IMPORTANT:
- Your homepage must be called index.htm or index.html.

- Any files that are to be viewed by the public should be placed in your “public” directory (or a subdirectory of
“public). If you place files in a directory other than “public,” only you will have access to them.

You can view the site that you have uploaded at http://(yourDomain).previewyoursite.com

Our support covers all the functions and tools of the hosting account to make sure that they work properly while the customer is developing there site. However, we can't provide support on any programs or code that the customer introduces while developing there website. This is because this is introduced as an outside resource by the customer that moves away from the tools we provide and into the work of the customer.

Thank you for using Register.com, the First Step on the Web(TM).

I'm too tired for this shit. once I figure out the ins and outs of easy blogging, I'm going to study like mad to come up with an easy and encephally unchallenged way of moving from site to site. Create an easy competition for people to move from one site to another with three simple steps: 1) set up domain 2) set up hosting 3) select what you want uploaded then press ONE button. (has easy GUI that even dummies like me can delete, move, or add shit later)

What do you think? Vision first, technical shit later.

WOW! I have the same attitude as a CEO!!! COOOOOL! Places I shall go, believe in yourself DWR. Believe....

Well you seem to have 2 problems here DWR.

I tried to mess with the blogger thing and upload it to my site, and it did not work out too well. The problem seems to stem from the type of files that are allowed on my server. I do not know what but I cannot get the blog to post... So that may be problem one with your uploading issues. First my suggestion is to put up a splash page on your site. Yes here you will have to come up with a graphic or something, and creat an HTML or HTM page. Really they are the same thing, just one does not have an L. So put up a splash page to ensure the proper uploading.

The second problem comes into play with the fact the host may not have access to your blog account and thus it makes it difficult to transer. The transfer itself will actually be done through your blogger account, which I am sure you know. It is just a matter of putting in the correct info to post it. But then issue one comes up agian, does the host allow for this type of action. My guess would be yes it will allow for that type of actoin. However the result of posting your blog onto your website may prove to be time consuming.

One option you have is to copy and past each post from your blog to your site. Yes this will take much longer, but you can format it any way you want. By using this option you will be allowed more freedom as to how the stie looks, and will not be dependent on the lay out of your blog. Your Host company seeminly gives you all the tools for making pages in WYSISYG format.

So use the WYSIWYG program, upload a splash page, make sure it is working. Then try to get blogger to move the site. It is done in the editing of your blogger account. You will find some discrepencies among the wordage each company will be asking for. Some may ask for host site, and others will ask for your sites ftp, many will ask for both. If you fill out the info and it still does not work, try switching the sites around. For example Dreamweaver uses different names, that do not match the info I was given my Yahoo! (The Horde's web host). But I switched the host site and the FTP site name and it worked. I do not know why, all I know is that it just did. Try that.

And if your still confused, look in your inbox, I sent you an email that might help, but then agian maybe not?

at least I have my domain name secured. That's a start... that's the only start. but none the less a start. right am off to do more research before I go to bed and my spelling goes to shite...

good nite! and thx for all your help!

Whoa there, o. It's not nearly that difficult (notice that even *I* have transfered my blog to my domain). The only thing you need is an FTP program. Go to your blogger dashboard and click on "publishing". There, it explains exactly what you need to enter. The only other thing you need to do is FTP into your domain and create 1 file (named: index.html). If you can't figure it out, let me know and I can do it for you (or at least walk you through it if you don't want to give me your passwords ;)...). You can get my email address from http://www.viciousenterprises.com/contact-vicious-enterprises.php
