Alchoholics'R'us

beer Posted by Hello

Let me share with you one of the things I've noticed is that there are two major types of alcoholics: those that are in denial, and those that are proud.

The denialers are usually on about how little they drink, or that they drink "only" this much or another while they pack up a wine cellar or two and stumble on their way home slurring about Tolstoy... they are the boring drinkers.

On the other hand the ones that are proud are usually VERY aware that they are fond of their glass or two (or three or 15... etc). They are easy to spot, because for some strange reason they really get into the fine details of what they are drinking even though they are losing brains cells by the dozen at wholesale prices. For instance a person who will engage in a conversation about new world wines, old world wines, vintages, vinyards, grapes, alkaline soil, etc. is a proud alcoholic, for they are disguising their penchant for beeing on the piss (so to speak) by showing that they are "intelligent" and "knowledgable" and therefore their boozing habit is somehow beneficial to humanity as a whole.

Must admit, I really admire their level of absolute faith, and also the ability to learn the details on the piss, AND delude themselves that they are still near the median of the bell curve when it comes to average drinking habits, but the "good ideas" last only as long as the bottle of Haute Medoc(sp?), my friend.

'been there, seen that, drunk that, and puked all over the T-shirt....
